How Much Does Kajabi Cost?

online business

When you are first starting a business online, whether as an author, freelancer, or another type of creator, you will have a lot of decisions to make. Each decision will demand something of you and direct the course of your business in a significant way. Those early decisions are vital to your success over the long haul.

Two questions you are probably juggling with right now are:

  • What is the best platform to run my online business?
  • How much money will I spend to create my vision?

First, congratulations on being one of the few dedicated souls who actually do their research before making a purchase like this. It's not enough to simply use whatever tool everyone else is using these days.

You and your work deserve to stand apart. Granted, they must, if you want to have the kind of success you know is possible.

Second, in this article, you will learn all of the pricing information related to the all-in-one platform called Kajabi. Now, you can get a summary of this information on Kajabi's pricing page.

But our goal for this article is to help you walk away not only with an understanding of what their prices are, but how they compare across the spectrum of online tools – and whether or not it’s the right fit for you.

What is Kajabi – A Quick Overview

Kajabi is an all-in-one online platform that enables you to run your entire online business with a single tool.

I'm an author, and so when I knew I wanted to grow my online presence and monetize my expertise, I wanted something easy to use. My perfect day is spent writing, reading, and having deep conversations with other experts. It's not troubleshooting complicated plugins and sifting through technical forums trying to solve my own problems.

I’ve been using Kajabi for a little over 3 years now and I couldn’t be happier. Here’s everything that is included in their platform:

  1. Products (Online Courses, Membership Sites, Communities [i.e., alternative to Facebook Groups] and more)
  2. Websites (Drag and drop builder, Library of templates to start with)
  3. Payments (Full integration with Stripe or Paypal)
  4. Email (Built-in email solution that is as powerful as anything on the market, Includes automations, auto-responders, and more)
  5. Pages (Landing pages, Sales pages, Fully customizable, Huge selection of templates)
  6. Pipelines (Kajabi’s version of funnels, Easy to use, Prebuilt templates)
  7. Analytics (Traffic, Conversion, User Profiles …seriously, there’s so much data!)
  8. People (In-depth information on every subscriber and member who interacts with your products and content)
  9. Mobile (A mobile app version that allows your users to access all of your product-content from their devices)
  10. Support (Live support from real people who are actually helpful – this alone is worth the price for me)

How Much is Kajabi Per Month and Per Year

Kajabi is available at 3 different price points depending on your business size and needs. It’s worth noting that there is a 20% discount available when you opt for an annual plan versus a month-to-month plan.

Regardless of which plan you choose, and whether you pay monthly or annually, these features will always be included with your Kajabi:

  • Kajabi University (a comprehensive collection of courses to guide you in your online business)
  • 0% Transaction Fee
  • Webinars & Events (live training from current successful Kajabi users)
  • Ready to Use Templates
  • Assessments (Quizzes & Surveys)
  • Chat Support
  • Automations (run your business passively, on auto-pilot, with these tools)

Kajabi Pro: $399/month or $3,838/year ($319/month at annual rate)

Kajabi Pro is the absolute top-level offering from Kajabi. It includes the most features as well as the most customization options.

For most people early on in their business ventures, this will likely be more than you need. However, you do always have the option to upgrade along the way – which their support team handles 100% (I upgraded from their Basic to Growth plans about a year in).

Here’s a quick listing of what the Pro plan gets you (this list also includes any features mentioned in the lower-priced plans):

  • 100 Products
  • 100 Pipelines
  • Unlimited Landing Pages
  • 2,000,000 Marketing Emails
  • 100,000 Contacts
  • 20,000 Active Members
  • 3 Websites
  • 25 Admin Users
  • Code Editor

When you put into context the fact that most of the businesses using Kajabi Pro are doing $1,000,000+ in revenue, this plan becomes an absolute steal. For comparison, if you wanted to reach 100,000 contacts using Mailchimp with the same level of customization that Kajabi allows, you'd be paying at least $699/month - and remember, that's only to send emails.

Kajabi Growth: $199/month or $1,908/year ($159/month at annual rate)

The next level of features is called Kajabi Growth. This option is also advertised as Kajabi’s most popular level, and for good reason. You get a host of components to choose from along with all of the basic features that make Kajabi so impressive.

Here are the items that make the Kajabi Growth level unique:

  • 15 Products
  • 15 Pipelines
  • Unlimited Landing Pages
  • Unlimited Marketing Emails
  • 25,000 Contacts
  • 10,000 Active Members
  • 1 Website
  • 10 Admin User
  • 24/7 Chat Support
  • Advanced Automations
  • Ability to Remove Kajabi Branding
  • Affiliate Program

The ideal Growth user will have a plan in mind for their business strategy and a list of products they already want to build. The 28 day free trial of Kajabi gives users access to the Growth plan so that you have the flexibility to try out the complete platform before deciding if it’s for you.

Kajabi Basic: $149/month or $1,428/year ($119/month at annual rate)

Finally, the Kajabi Basic plan is meant for those at the very start of their journey who may not know exactly what they want to build, but know that online business is somewhere they want to be.

This is where I started and I was impressed by how many options I still had available. I didn't upgrade until I was making $1,000+/month consistently.

Here is a list of what you get access to in Basic:

  • 3 Products
  • 3 Pipelines
  • Unlimited Landing Pages
  • Unlimited Marketing Emails
  • 10,000 Contacts
  • 1,000 Active Members
  • 1 Website
  • 1 Admin User

Kajabi Basic had everything I needed to grow an idea into a real online income. My first course launch went better than expected and led to me offering higher-priced consulting gigs as well – both of which I run directly through Kajabi’s products, offers, and email.

Is Kajabi Worth the Money?

This is a question I get asked quite often, especially from the people just starting out, and my answer is always yes.  To give you an idea of what it would cost to run my current author business before Kajabi, here’s a quick list of my expenses:

  • Mailchimp: $29/month
  • Squarespace: $18/month
  • Teachable: $99/month
  • WebinarJam: $40/month
  • ClickFunnels: $97/month
  • Leadpages: $37/month
  • Zapier: $25/month

That comes out to about $345/month, not to mention the time it takes to learn, integrate, and use 7 separate software tools.

By switching from this complex suite of tools to Kajabi Basic, I saved an average of $226/month or $2,712/year. That’s a lot of money back in your pocket when you’re first starting out.

But what if you're business uses fewer tools, is it still worth it?

Of course, this depends on you. The reason it was worth it for me is that I wanted a simpler business. I wanted to only use 1 tool and I wanted that tool to facilitate my growth as an author. If I want to build a new course tomorrow, I can do that. If I want to test 8 new funnel and email combinations, I can do that too – all within a single platform.

My advice is to figure out what’s important to you.

Where do you want to spend your time and money for your business? What do you want each day to look like? And where, ideally, do you want to be in 5 years? Pick the platform that most aligns with these answers and you’ll be golden.

Kajabi Alternatives

If you’re researching an online platform to build your business with, it’s likely you’re going to see a lot of versus articles, such as Kajabi vs. Teachable, Kajabi vs. ClickFunnels, Kajabi vs. Karta, or Kajabi vs. Thinkific.

It's important to keep in mind that in many of these cases the writers are comparing apples to oranges, so it's not exactly a fair competition. For example, Teachable hosts courses and accepts payments. That's all it does. Therefore, comparing it to a platform like Kajabi that also allows you to build websites, create funnels, send emails, and more is unfair.

Just something to keep in mind as you sort through your options.

If Kajabi sounds like a platform that might be right for you, I encourage you to try it out using their 28 day free trial. For 28 days, you’ll be given a new task to accomplish each day with the goal of making your first $1,000 by the end of the challenge.

I took the challenge and made $778 within the first month. Not quite $1,000, but it was enough to convince me that Kajabi was what I had been looking for.
